Fall Creek Falls in Pikeville, Tennessee

Fall Creek Falls State Resort Park in Tennessee is one of the most scenic and spectacular recreation areas in America. Its waterfalls, cascades, sparkling streams, gorges, timberland and an unmatched variety of recreation facilities and activities have made it one of the most popular parks in the Southeast.

About Fall Creek Falls

Fall Creek Falls is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains, plunging 256 feet into a shaded pool at the base of its gorge. This majestic waterfall plunges into a gorge containing one of the last stands of virgin forest in the Southeast. In winter snow and ice create a magnificant scene of solitude and beauty.

The waters of Fall Creek have cut through the rock to expose geologic formations millions of years old. These rocks are the remnants of sandy dunes, tidal planes, salt marshes, or swamps, giving each layer a different texture and color.

The park’s other falls, (Piney, Cane Creek and Cane Creek Cascades), though smaller, are just as impressive.

A great place to hike, swim, bike and go camping, Fall Creek Falls has it all!

Fall Creek Falls is my favorite place to go camping. The water is cold until the summer time, but then it is great to go swimming. I’ve only seen one snake, and that was at the base of Fall Creek Falls. I’ve seen more salamanders there than I have snakes. The most common animal you will see are deer and raccoons. Unfortunately the most common bug you will see there is ticks, followed by no-see-ums, butterflies and mosquitoes. Bring your bug spray!

Fall Creek Falls is south of Crossville and is South-West of Knoxville, TN. The Park is between Pikeville and Spencer and is in Van Buren County, Tennessee.
